Editorial Standards

How we handle sources, headlines, summaries, and disclosures.

We link every outlet we show

Every headline on The Global Aggregate links directly to the original article on the source outlet's website. We do not reproduce full article text. Readers are always one click away from the primary source.

We never change a headline's words

Headlines are reproduced verbatim from the source outlet. We do not paraphrase, shorten, or editorially alter them. If a headline contains an error, that error belongs to the source outlet — we will note that if it becomes relevant.

Our comparisons are labelled as ours

Each story page includes a "How the coverage differs"section compiled by The Global Aggregate. These comparisons are clearly labelled"Compiled by The Global Aggregate" and represent our own analysis, not the words of any source outlet. They describe which countries covered the story, which outlets reported it, and how headlines differed across countries.

State-affiliated sources are labelled

Sources that are operated or funded by a national government are labelled "State-affiliated source." This is a factual disclosure, not an editorial judgement about the accuracy or quality of the reporting.
